Trail Committee update
The trail committee recently received a cheque for $65,000.00 from Trans Canada Trails (TCT) to continue Phase 2 of the trail project in the Lake Ainslie area. This money was applied for by the LADA trail committee as part of the 51km trail building project connecting the Kenloch area to Whycocomagh trail network. This money will go toward engineering services and building and replacing bridges along the route. The goal is to complete the TCT by Canada’s anniversary year in 2017. If you wish to get involved or help out with the committee in any way, please speak to Mike Gillis or Coralie Cameron.
Snowmobile Clubs fundraising for new Trail Groomer
The local snowmobile clubs are fundraising for a new trail groomer. There is a committed group of volunteers who maintain and run the groomers at all hours to keep the trails open and accessible for trail users. The current groomers are old and in need of constant repair. Snowmobilers, cross country skiers, hikers and snowshoe-ers benefit from a large network of groomed trails in the area. If you wish to make a donation to the purchase of the new trail groomer, please contact Inverness Capers Snowmobile Club.
